This is a song about the English defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.  I came up with the melody for this song while experimenting with the Dorian mode.  I fit the song to the chords available in the Dorian mode.  Specifically, this song uses a i-IV-v chord progression of D minor, G major and A minor (as opposed to the i-iv-v progression typical of the D minor scale, which would include a G minor rather than G major, due to the B flat in the D minor scale).
